If so, I'd try deleting CM 10, reinstall it and then reapply the patch. A reinstallation might correct the version problem.

FWIW, my version of anim8.dll is also 4.0.1.0. Regards, John.

Since upgrading to windows 10, I cannot open chessmaster 10 nor am I able to uninstall it in order to continue following your advice for the reinstall. I get window indicating if I wish to allow unknown software to alter my computer. When I click yes or no the window vanishes and nothing happens. I have administrative control and have tried to uninstall from the disc, from the desktop icon(also adminstrator) and also from the start menu and right clicking on chessmaster and also from settings. All to no avail. I have even re-registered the game.

I don't believe I have the two patches installed though. Any help would be appreciated. I uninstalled the program. Then reinstalled it. I left both boxes unchecked. (Adobe reader and directX) After that I installed all three patches and restarted the computer every single time.

I tried to open Chessmaster normally and tried to run it as administrator, but when I do I get a message from User Account Control: Do you want to allow this app from an unknown publisher to make changes to your PC? I click Yes and it doesn't do anything. Please help me because it would be important for me to use it.

First questions. Did you make sure that you installed the game (and the patches) as the Administrator? If not, then uninstall and try again, installing each as the Administrator. You also have to ensure that the patches install successfully.

You'll get a confirmation message after installing each patch stating that it failed or was successful. If you've done all that and are still having problems, are you getting a blank screen or does Chessmaster just not run? Are you getting any other error messages?
